Our Story

WHO WE ARE

NULP was initiated in 2011 by Trócaire Uganda in coordination with Uganda Land Alliance, Land and Equity Movement in Uganda, OXFAM and Concern Worldwide. We are a loose coalition that comprises of CSO, Government parastatals and practitioners interested and implementing land related issues. Our objectives are as follows: -

Participants

Participants comprise: local and international civil society institutions in addition to local government, traditional institutions, religious institution  and the Ministry of Lands Housing and Urgban development.

Support

Totally voluntary with financial support for meetings coming from the founding institutions.

Northern Uganda Land Platform

Our Achievements

 In 2014 the platform commissioned a study on “Power and Vulnerability in Land Dispute Resolution” funded by OXFAM, Trócaire and Concern. Some of the recommendations in from the study were taken up by different organisations.

 Successfully held meetings at least three times a year in different locations in the greater Northern Uganda Districts funded by different donors and land actors.

 Through the platform some organisations were able to create networks to which projects were funded

 NULP birthed other platforms in different sub regions e.g. Karamoja, Teso and Bunyoro Platforms.
